Shinonome Mei is an average high school girl living with her parents and working in the family udon shop. One day Shibata Rihito introduces himself to Mei as her butler.
An "accident" occurs and both her parents are killed leaving Mei by herself. Rihito informs her that one of her parents was heir to the Hongo family and that Mei is in line to inherit the Hongo family business. There is one condition though. She must attend an Elite all girls school and learn the ways of an heiress in order to qualify.
The number one rule at the Lucia School is that it is forbidden for love to occur between a Lady and her butler.
Growning up "poor", Mei is shunned by the other girls at school. She is bullied and tormented. They don't believe she deserves to be there or have Rihito as her butler.
Mei often thinks she should give up and just go back home and live with friends to finish school. But Rihito insists that she should carry on at the Elite school and become the woman he knows she could be. When know one else believes in Mei, Rihito is always by her side incouraging her. She decides that with Rihito by her side she will be able to carry on through the Elite school and face the obstacles that are thrown her way.
