Razor Ramon Sumitani - Hard Gay

Photobucket

Hard Gay is the alter-ego of Japanese comedian Sumitani Masaki. Sumitani Masaki is a retired professional wrestler, best known as Razor Ramon, Razor Ramon Hard Gay or Razor Ramon Sumitani. He named himself after the former WWE (formally known as the WWF) wrestler Razor Ramon.

Sumitani Masaki's Hard Gay persona became popular after being featured on the Bakusho Mondai no Bakuten! variety show.

Hard Gay does skits for the Bakusho Mondai variety show in which he ventures into public and puts his little twist on every day living, from how youths feel about their fathers on Father's Day to helping a Ramen shop bring in more customers.

Here's a short clip of the beginning skit for "Ramen Shop".

There are a total of 9 Hard Gay episodes. Watch them all, you wont be disappointed. I laugh every time. I can watch an episode several times in the same day, and still laugh at something wild he does.

This is a clip of Hard Gay's cameo in Atashinchi no Danshi which I've previously posted on.

***The term "Hādo Gei" is a Japanese reference to American gay subculture in similar fashion as "Punk". In Japan, gender subculture with distinct dress style are in fact trans-gender or drag, which in Japan is referred to as "Gei". In turn, the term "hard gay" became the reference to more masculine oriented "drag" seen to be prevalent in America. The comedy, which is no obvious to Westerners, is derived from the fact that Hard Gay is foreign and therefore, can get away with most outrageous behavior or comment. The fact that Hard Gay does not portray any Japanese gay subculture also explains why the sketch was allowed to be aired on Japanese TV, which has its own code of political correctness. - Information from English Wikipedia***

Sumitani Masaki, though he portrays his character of Hard Gay well, is in fact not "hard gay". He is married to model Suzuki Anna (not to be confused with Suzuki Anne) as of November 27th, 2006.
